December 5, 2014 — The squirrel and the elephant

A small poem:

The squirrel springs and hops and stops

to meet the tranquil elephant

she feels a sense of placid trust

an air of existential eloquence

The elephant stretches down his trunk

to lift the squirrel up

And so the squirrel sees a world

through the big calm elephant’s sight

She now knows how it is when time

drifts and wanders and flies

Moments of happiness so sublime

when she gazes into the elephant’s eyes
